Textile sling and chain

CE-Compliant Chain Slings, Endless Slings and Wire Rope Slings

Chain slings, endless slings and wire rope slings are essential lifting accessories designed to ensure the safe lifting, handling and transportation of heavy loads. Widely used in industry, construction, workshops, logistics platforms, maintenance operations and port environments, these lifting accessories connect a load to lifting equipment such as a chain hoist, overhead crane, crane, winch or beam trolley.

Choosing the right sling should never be left to chance. It depends on the load weight, the number of legs, the sling angle, the type of load to be lifted, the frequency of use and the working environment. A chain sling, wire rope endless sling or wire rope sling must be selected according to its Working Load Limit (WLL). This value indicates the maximum load that the lifting accessory can safely support under normal operating conditions.

Chain Slings: Strength and Safety for Heavy Loads

Chain slings are highly valued for their mechanical strength, durability and ability to withstand demanding working conditions. They are ideal for lifting compact, heavy, abrasive or sharp-edged loads where textile slings are not suitable. Chain slings are available in several grades, including Grade 80, Grade 100 and Grade 120, depending on the required strength.

A chain sling can be configured with one, two, three or four legs. It may be fitted with safety hooks, shortening hooks, master links, lifting rings or other accessories depending on the application. To ensure safe operation, it is essential to comply with the sling angle specified on the identification tag. The greater the sling angle, the lower the effective lifting capacity.

Chain slings used for lifting operations must comply with the applicable European standards, particularly the EN 818 series. EN 818-4 specifically covers Grade 8 chain slings, defining the safety requirements, calculation methods, testing procedures and manufacturing specifications. The chain itself may also comply with EN 818-2, while associated lifting components may fall under EN 1677.

Endless Slings: A Flexible and Versatile Lifting Solution

An endless sling generally refers to a continuous-loop sling, commonly manufactured from steel wire rope or textile materials depending on the application. In wire rope lifting applications, a wire rope endless sling provides a robust, flexible and practical solution for handling industrial components, steel structures, machinery and other heavy loads requiring a secure lifting point.

Thanks to its continuous-loop design, an endless sling can be used in several hitch configurations, including basket hitch, choker hitch and straight lift, depending on the load. It ensures excellent load distribution and is suitable for a wide range of lifting operations. However, it should always be used with care, particularly when lifting sharp-edged loads or working in high-temperature, corrosive or high-friction environments.
